The Story

**[Jean-Paul Sartre](https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F045bg&q=Jean-Paul+Sartre)** (21 June 1905 – 15 April 1980) was a monumental **French philosopher, playwright, and novelist** who defined 20th-century intellectual life as the primary champion of [existentialism](https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/sartre/). Driven by a radical conception of human freedom, his work spanned across literature, phenomenology, and Marxist political activism. He famously became the first person to voluntarily **decline the Nobel Prize in Literature** in 1964, asserting that an author should not allow themselves to be turned into an institution. In this discussion we will be exploring the life and some of the core philosophical Ideas of Jean-Paul Sartre such as Existentialism and Phenomenology to mention but a few. Jean-Paul Sartre has been touted as one of modern ages most influential philosophers and was very active in social and political movements in France during his life time, he was so popular that when he died over **25,000 ordinary citizens** flooded the streets of Paris for his funeral procession. If your interested in discussing the life, ideas and works of Jean-Paul Sartre and their effect on us personally and societally and culturally come along on Tuesday the 27th of October for what is always an engaging, fun and deep discussion. I look forward to seeing you and sharing your wisdom as we explore this interesting subject.
