Kids Play & Parents Chat - Carter Park Playground

The Story

Come join us for a Family Park Meetup! The kids get to play, explore, and make some new friends while the adults have a chance to relax, talk, and meet other local parents, grandparents, and guardians. Younger kids enjoy the playground equipment. For older kids we bring Nerf guns. At our last meetup the 10-15-year-olds loved their Nerf-gun battle and didn't want to leave. There’s no formal program and no pressure. Arrive with your kids when you wish, and stay as long as you like! Sorenson Park has two playground areas for different ages, a basketball half-court, and a grove of plum trees that some kids like to climb (as well as a little fir tree that our 13-year-old and his friends climbed to the top of a while back - they made a TikTok of themselves swaying in the treetop . . .) Feel free to bring snacks, drinks, or anything else your family might want while we’re there. Children of different ages are welcome! Please note that this is a family meetup rather than a drop-off activity, so all minors must attend with parent or legal guardian and remain under that person's supervision. The event is also closed to adults who do not have their own kids with them. One thing to know before you come: Sorenson is a neighborhood park, so it does not have a parking lot or restrooms.
