The Story

If you have been thinking about starting your first aquarium but feel overwhelmed by all the equipment and advice out there, this meetup is for you. We are getting together in Basel to talk through the fundamentals of setting up a healthy home for fish. My goal is to break down the process into manageable steps so you can feel confident about choosing the right tank, picking compatible species, and maintaining a stable environment without unnecessary stress or expense. This is an informal session intended for total beginners who want to get their feet wet. We will cover the basics of the nitrogen cycle, simple equipment needs, and how to avoid the most common mistakes new hobbyists make. Whether you have an empty tank sitting in your basement or you are just curious about the hobby, please feel free to join us to ask questions and share ideas.
