Lower Macleay Park
A weekly hike up to Pittock Mansion to view the city Miles: **5.0** Elevation Gain: **921 ft** Things to bring: headlamp/flashlight during the short days of winter (it gets dark on this hike starting in September), hiking boots, water. Please note that although this hike is relatively short, the elevation gain in such a short period can be challenging for those that are beginning to hike. The group usually has some quicker paced members at the front, and spreads out a bit. If you can't keep up with the front runners, keep hiking! We will wait at the top for a while, and after returning we will hang out at the bottom until everyone is there, or until 8:30 (whichever comes first). We'll then head to Pizza Thief for a post-hike slice. This hike is in the heavy woods of Forest Park and gets darker much earlier that the surrounding areas due to this tree coverage. We hike all year round and will shorten the hike during very rainy days in the winter to a 2.5-mile round trip hike.
