The Creative Act: The Art of Inspiration

The Story

This three-part series inspired by Rick Rubin’s book “The Creative Act: A Way of Being” walks us through the journey of the creative process from inspiration, to creation, to sharing. This journey of self-expression is one of the most fundamental aspects of being human. Our individual set of experiences, thoughts, humor, and fears creates a unique lens through which only we can see the world. When we recognize this, we can begin to see how the act of creating helps us make sense of our own inherent worth. In the first session, we will explore the Art of Inspiration. It doesn’t take an artist to be a creator and anyone can practice noticing with a mix of curiosity, awe, and awareness. We will take time to explore our inner and/or our outer worlds to see what captivates or moves us. What you find interesting requires no permission or approval, it only needs to be interesting to you in that moment. Join us and see what inspires you!
